Stress is Everywhere!

Stress is all around in our current society. We have cell phones beeping or buzzing, negative news stories, people honking at us, bosses yelling at us, financial worries, etc. It is a prevalent problem.

Stress can disrupt your hormone balance. Stress causes your cortisol production to go into over drive and then over time your body can burn out–unable to produce enough cortisol. We call this adrenal fatigue. It is something that traditional medical doctors generally overlook as they are not trained to diagnose or treat it.

tips to reduce stress

With adrenal fatigue you generally feel tired most of the time and you lack the energy to do the things that you desire. You may want to work out but you feel worse afterwards. You may find yourself getting sick more easily and more often. You may be unable to fall asleep at night even though you are tired and/or wake up in the middle of the night for no reason. You may have low blood pressure, depression, cravings for salty food, etc.

There is no specific test for adrenal fatigue but you can get a saliva cortisol level that is tested four times throughout the day. It is generally easily diagnosed by seeing a bio-identical hormone specialist who can recognize the signs and symptoms of adrenal fatigue. He/she can then customize a treatment program for you. Healing your adrenal glands and getting your cortisol rebalanced involves rest, gentle detoxification, bio-identical hormone replacement (Progesterone, Testosterone, Thyroid, Estrogen) as needed, vitamin supplementation, nutrition support, etc. The good news is that with time and dedication you can heal your adrenal glands.
