When you eat do you think about the impact you are about to make on how you feel and function? Many people say no, so you are not alone if that is what you answered.
Most people just think about satisfying their hunger.
The important thing to realize is that what you eat can actually make you sick if you eat the wrong thing for you, and it is different for everyone. Your intestinal track is an amazing organ that is responsible for breaking down foods (through acid and enzymes) into tiny particles that can be absorbed into your blood stream and then processed by your body.
There are a lot of cells in your intestinal tract that are present to help fight off invaders (such as bacteria, viruses, etc) since food can contain these invaders. The problem occurs when you eat a food that contains something that your protector cells see as a threat and they fight the food. The result is inflammation. This can cause pain, bloating, gas, etc for you.
Now, it can go one step further. Your body can create antibodies towards food particles that also cross react with your own tissue. It is not normal to have antibodies fight your own body, the result can be thyroid disorders, fibromyalgia, Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis, Crohn’s disease, among many other auto-immune diseases. Traditional medicine treats the diseases by diminishing the inflammation. Doesn’t it make sense to look at the potential cause and evaluate nutrition as it applies to you?
